Areas of co-operation
The areas of co-operation are covered by four working groups responsible for the finding and carrying out of possible activities within their respective fields. The groups also have common cross cutting perspectives, as the awareness of our common heritage and the heritage as a promoter for local and regional development. Each group started by defining short and long term work in work programmes available in their respective progress reports.

Building Preservation and Maintenance in Practice
Chaired by Sweden in co-operation with Latvia
The main aim of the working group is to enhance good management of the built heritage of the Baltic Sea region; by establishing common guidelines for preservation and maintenance and by supporting the demand for professional skills and traditional materials.

Sustainable Historic Towns
Chaired by Finland in co-operation with Estonia
The aims of the working group are to promote preservation and sustainable development of the diversity of historic towns of the Baltic Sea including development of good models for sustainable conservation planning and urban planning.

Under Water Heritage
Chaired by Denmark
The main aim of the working group is to raise awareness of the values of, and to enhance the protection of the under water cultural heritage in the Baltic Sea.

Coastal Culture and Maritime Heritage
Chaired by Norway in co-operation with Poland
The aim is to deepen the co-operation between authorities working with the coastal culture and its development and to draw the attention to the strategies for sustainable use of coastal areas. Special attention should be given to documentation and presentation of coastal culture through research and exhibitions.
